September just flew by! Here we are…another month, another moodboard. Below are a few of the things I’m currently loving and somethings I’m looking forward to in October.
October: Leaves, Ochre, Tea, Jumpers, Pumpkin
Joyce Carol Oates
Starting with books. I just love reading. I recently discovered Joyce Carol Oates who is an American author who has published 58 novels since 1965 as well as a lot of collections, short stories and novellas. I’m really loving her style of writing. The topics she covers are pretty sensitive/controversial and so desperately important for people to talk about more. The books I’ve read cover topics such as gender, rape, abortion, race, religion.
The three I’ve read so far and would highly recommend are:
- A Book of American Martyrs*
- Rape: A Love Story*
- The Female of the Species: Tales of Mystery and Suspense*
I always recommend borrowing books from the library but if this isn’t an option for you and you fancy getting the books there are some second-hand cheaper books on Amazon Marketplace – linked above.
I’ve been bingeing this podcast as of late. Sara Tasker and Jen Carrington two creatives who have started their own businesses in creative fields. The podcast episodes are based around letters from people who write in to Sara and Jen who discuss important topics brought up in the letters and give advice on all issues/considerations on working in a creative industry, starting/building your own company and working in the online world. Their conversations are insightful, funny, reassuring and down-to-earth. If this sounds like something you’re interested in – give it a listen!
The biographical film about Judy Garland is in cinemas soon! I’m a big Judy Garland fan and I’m also super excited that Rufus Wainwright (an amazing singer) is part of the film too. Really looking forward to see this film and am hoping I’m not going to be disappointed because I’m just too excited it might not be able to live up to my expectations!
The Good Place
It’s back for Season 4. The first episode or two are already on Netflix but I’m one of those people who really don’t like waiting a week between episodes so I’m waiting for a little bit and I’ll get watching when I can watch them a little more frequently than once a week!
